She was born on September 4, 1928 in Boston and graduated in 1944 from Lakewood HS in Cleveland Ohio. She attended Bowling Green State University, where she became a member of the Alpha Phi sorority, and met the love of her life, and husband of 58 years, Franklin L Lyon. Upon graduation they got married and settled in Columbus Ohio, where Frank attended OSU Medical School and they raised their family, Jennifer (1953) and Jeffrey (1959).
Pat worked at the OSU Medical School Admissions Office, part time at Frank’s medical practice, and then for 30 years at Columbus Prescription Pharmacy.
She was socially and philanthropically active, dedicating time to numerous charitable organizations throughout her life including Central Ohio TWIG and Kinder Key.
Pat remained active with Alpha Phi as an Alumni, belonged to various women’s groups including the “Purse Strings” investment club, and she played Bridge with several groups.
She was a huge fan of OSU Buckeye football, and attended many OSU games, including the Rose Bowl in 1968. Pat was also a professional golf fan, and annually attended the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield with Frank.
She was a wizard at crossword puzzles and was a voracious reader. With thanks to the Cleveland Library and the National Library Services “Books on Tape” program, she also filled many hours listening to hundreds of books on tape when her eyesight became impaired in later life.
