Laverne was born and raised in Fitzgerald, GA, a graduate of Fitzgerald High School in Ben Hill County, and proud wife of a US Naval veteran. She and her siblings grew up orphans with the untimely passing of her mother at a young age. Her and her siblings were taken in and raised by their grandparents Charles Pinkney Rodgers and Iris Lee Rodgers(Harvey). She helped her grandmother around the house and kitchen by preparing meals daily for the family. She was a hardworking woman who spent years working in Retail Sales in the baby department for Lazarus. She was a loving, caring, kind, fierce woman. She had a way about her that people were drawn to her. She was always there to help others and never missed a chance to go home and be with family. She opened her home to people who were friend and family always lending a hand. She was the best southern cook with learning everything she knew from her grandmother. She always had something to say and coined the phrase “You want to know something funny” and what followed was never funny. Though she had a way of making people laugh, smile, and feel loved. Heaven gained another angel and while her presence will be missed dearly, she is no longer suffering.
Laverne’s family will receive friends on Saturday, December 18, 2021, 9am at SCHOEDINGER NORTH, 5554 Karl Rd with a funeral service to follow at 10am. Officiant Pastor Paul Gabriel.
