On Sunday, December 27, 2020, Nancy Jo Lukemeyer, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away at the age of 86 at home in Worthington, Ohio. Nancy was born on July 21,1934, one of the hottest days on record in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Joseph H. and Eleanore Plasket. She met some of her lifelong friends in Fort Wayne and enjoyed spending summers on lake Wawasee sailing with her family. She was an excellent student and graduated Southside High School in 1951 with the honor of Salutatorian. She studied at Depauw University, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Depauw was where she met the love of her life, Jack Lukemeyer, on a blind date for a dance. She graduated Depauw in 1955 with a degree in teaching and went on to teach third grade in Green Castle, Indiana.
On September 10, 1955 Nancy married Jack. They lived in Indianapolis, Indiana where they raised their three girls JoEllen, Jill and Janette until moving to Worthington, Ohio in 1978. Nancy was active in the Meridian Methodist church, Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, Starlighters, and volunteered at Crossroads. She always had a positive outlook on life, she loved mornings, going to breakfast for a blueberry pancake and coffee, working in her garden or chatting on the phone with friends and family. She was smart and always stayed on the top of the latest news and events. She absolutely adored reading and sometimes would finish multiple books in a week. She was always thrilled to get a new book to read, but her favorite themed books were about romance and WWII.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. What mattered most to her in the world was her family, friends and her sweet dog Coco. She is forever in our hearts and we miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Jack, parents Joseph and Eleanore Plasket and her sister Sue Henninger.
She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands: JoEllen and Richard Janes, Jill and Bertil Westin, Janette and Kenneth Graffeo; Grandchildren: Jonathan Janes (wife Kari), Lauren Gerdin (husband Jeremiah), Jennifer Westin, Niklas Westin, Jack Westin, Joseph Graffeo and Julia Graffeo; Great grandchildren: Landon Janes, Isla Janes and Eleanor Gerdin. She is also survived by her sister Gloria Baiden and nieces.
