Nancy Lou (Peters) Buergel, age 92, passed away peacefully with family on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. She was born on December 13, 1930, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Howard and Sonoma (Rickner) Peters. Nancy graduated from Grandview Heights High School in 1949. During high school, she played on the volleyball team and worked at the Grandview Goodie Shop. After high school, Nancy worked at Jeffrey Manufacturing Company as a secretary where she met her husband, Norman Buergel. Nancy married Norman on May 16, 1952, and lived with her husband and raised their family in the Upper Arlington home they built in 1956. Nancy loved Norman like no one else, and she has missed him since his passing in 2018. They were a team who loved each other greatly and were always together in life.
As a wife and mother, she was the chief cook and bottlewasher of a very organized and loving home where she ran her household like clockwork. Family always came first to Nancy, and she cherished family time the most. She helped with schoolwork, chauffeured her children to a myriad of activities, and played a mean game of Michigan Rummy on the weekends. She encouraged and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Nancy also had a passion for gardening, growing flowers, and flower arranging.
In 1982, Nancy and her husband, Norman, founded their own business, Capital Industrial Supply Company. Nancy called on clients with Norman while cultivating many friendships along the way. As the company’s secretary/treasurer, she invoiced orders and kept perfect books.
She will be greatly missed by her children Lisa (Mark) McKimmins and Lawrence (Denise) Buergel; grandchildren Jennifer (Mark) Hamilton, Mark Andrew (Cayce) McKimmins, Holly (Tim) Berry, Nathan (Melanie) Buergel, Daniel (Isabelle) Buergel, and Joshua (Carlie) Buergel; great-grandchildren Nolan and Rose Hamilton, Miley Mahonee and Ryker McKimmins, Benjamin and Isabelle Berry, and Hannah Buergel; brothers Bob (Patricia) Peters and Jeff (Barbara) Peters; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Buergel; sister, Joy Browning; and brother Dick Peters. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association at https://pages.heart.org/heartsem_v1/?form=legacy&fe554144=03ecc688a3c5&id-param=sem_honmem or to a charity of choice.
