Morris A. Meyer, III, PE, age 78, of Dublin, died peacefully Monday, September 28, 2015 at Kobacker House. He was born October 14, 1936 in Lebanon, PA, son of the late Morris A. and Edna Y. Meyer, Jr. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who made spending time with his family and friends a priority. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice Juppenlatz Meyer, sons and daughter-in-law, Morris A. Meyer IV, Stephen A. (Holly) Meyer, his two grandchildren, Olivia Grace Meyer and Jack Andrew Meyer; sisters, Nancy Meyer Gingrich and Mary Louise "Sukey" (Richard) Harris of PA ; many friends and colleagues as well as numerous nieces and nephews. During his working career, he was a Professional Engineer working in cold, warm and hot forging. He began his career in 1960 with Bethlehem Steel, Lebanon; moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1965 to begin working with Columbus Bolt and Forging Co., later worked with Metal Forge Co., Burns Cold Forge in Minerva, and retired from the Deshler Group. In addition to his parents, his daughter Anne Kerr Meyer preceded him in death in 2008. Morris was a 1954 graduate of Lebanon (PA) High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, where he was a member of Delta Chi fraternity and Phi Mu Alpha music honorary. He was a U. S. Navy veteran serving as a LTJG navigator aboard the USS Donner and took part in the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway with Operation Inland Seas. He was a member of First Community Church, where he especially enjoyed the music. He was a gifted French horn musician who played with the Harrisburg (PA) Symphony and the Central Ohio Symphony. Morris was a talented woodworker, handcrafting small miniatures to furniture to grandfather clocks. He tackled the most difficult projects, and always worked to find a way to complete them, often involving the family. Later in life, he rekindled his talent as a watercolor artist, earning many awards and honors. He was a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia, Watercolor USA Honor Society, the Ohio Watercolor Society and others. Painting became a rewarding passion. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, October 11, 2015 at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd., Columbus, OH 43212, with the Rev. Dr .Deborah Lindsay officiating. Family will receive immediately following the service at a reception in Brownlee Hall.
