Mildred "Midge" Phillips, age 93 passed away peacefully October 15, 2023. Midge was born February 12, 1930 to William and Marie Adams in Pyro, OH. She was very proud of the fact that her father delivered her before the doctor could arrive and felt this created a special bond between her and her father.
Midge married the love of her life William "Bill" Phillips September 2, 1955 and they had one son William "Billy" Phillips Jr. Midge was a loving caretaker for both Bill and Billy in later years.
Midge is preceded in Death by her parents, beloved husband, son and 2 older siblings Kay Romano and Mel Adams.
Midge went to a one-room schoolhouse in Pyro Ohio for the first 8 years of her education. She then went to Oak Hill High School where she played the trombone in the band, played basketball and obtained her diploma with an emphasis in business. She was a most efficient worker in different offices all her adult life, but her longest stay was at Yellow Freight in which she retired from.
Midge was a kind and generous person, she treated neighbors like family which was warmly reciprocated. Her neighbor Laura Stein was like a daughter to her. Laura's daughter, Patty, was the grandchild she never had. Midge also had a special relationship with neighbor Pam Wynn who looked out for Midge and made sure she had anything she needed.
Midge will be missed by two nephews, Steve "Tony" Adams and Gary Romano and two nieces, Lynn Adams Swaney and Julia Romano Gillis.
Calling hours will be Monday October 23 from 10:00-11:00 at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services by Schoedinger, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 on Monday October 23, 2023 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Oak Hill, Ohio.
