Michael Steven Vargo

Michael S. Vargo, age 94 of Columbus, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017. Michael was born in Beaverdale, Pennsylvania, son of the late Mihai and Anna Varga. Also preceded in death by son, James and sisters, Margaret and Betty. Michael proudly served his country in the military during WWII and graduated from The Ohio State University where he was Past President of Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity. Michael worked in the insurance industry throughout his career and retired as a manager from State Farm Insurance after 31 years of dedicated service during which he earned his CLU and LUTC. He was a longtime active member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus, Past President of Serra Club of Columbus, and a lifetime member of the Zanesfield Rod and Gun Club. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Marion "Peri" Vargo; children, Ann (Brian) Gaber, Michael B. Vargo, Mary Pat Vargo, Steven (Susan) Vargo, Teri (Rob) Fountain, Denise Vargo, Bill (Debbie) Vargo, and John (Sandy) Vargo; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Mary; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. Monday, September 11, 2017 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 1559 Roxbury Rd. Msgr. Romano Ciotola, Celebrant. Family will receive friends from 2-5 P.M. Sunday, September 10, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., where a prayer service will begin at 4:45 P.M. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
