Michael Bonaventura, age 74, passed away Monday, August 29, 2016 after a 10-month battle with cancer. He was born September 20, 1941 to Angelo and Virginia (McGowan) Bonaventura in Columbus, Ohio. He is survived by wife, Rebecca Jezerinac, son Paul (Kristin) and grandson, Sebastian, brothers, Steve (Joan) and Mark (Kacy), sisters, Angela Smith (Greg) and Diana Hunter (Bruce), dear friends, Dan and Christine Monfort, and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Michael is preceded in death by brother, Brian. Michael retired after 44 years of employment at General Motors and Delphi Corporations where he was a member of the UAW for 54 years (1962-2016). He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1963-1969. An avid cyclist and life member of the Columbus Outdoor Pursuits, he also enjoyed golfing, motorcycling, and traveling. Influenced by his wife's love of animals, they rescued and/or kept several dogs and cats during their 18 years together. Family will receive friends Tuesday, September 13, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road. Private family interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in Newark, Ohio at a later date.
