Mary Jane Myers, age 71, died peacefully on October 13, 2011 at home with her family at her side. Mary loved life and fought hard against her breast cancer for four years. In death, she has been given new life. She was born on June 12, 1940 to the late Edward and Lucille (Trembley) Schaffer and raised in Monticello, Minnesota. She and her husband, Jim, moved to Worthington, Ohio in 1961. Mary graduated from the Ohio State School of Cosmetology and practiced her trade for 30 years. Much of her work was providing services to home bound persons. Mary was a member of Saint Elizabeth Parish in Columbus. Along with Mary’s parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, granddaughter, Katie Olson and son-in-law, David Olson. She leaves to remember and cherish their 52 years together, husband, Jim; children, Craig (Stacy) Myers, Christine Olson, Carla (Mark) Maxwell, Grandchildren, Kelly Olson, Emily Olson, Madeline Maxwell, Daniel Maxwell, Audrey Maxwell, Brandon Myers and step-grandchildren, Ashley and Morgan Reasoner; sisters, Joan (Donald) Doran, Sally (Donald) Ebner, Barbara (Jeff) Etter, Terri Schaffer and brothers, William (Bernadette) Schaffer and Michael (Ruth) Schaffer. Mary’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at JamesCare Comprehensive Cancer Center and HomeReach Hospice for the caring treatment and comfort they provided. Special thanks to high school pals, Mavis Ward and Marion Walker and neighbors, Judy Latshaw, Alice Herrel, Pam Lykens and Felicia Maxwell Cotsamire for all of their support and assistance throughout Mary’s journey.
