Mary Ellen Kubik

Mary Ellen Kubik, age 55, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2022, after a valiant battle with cancer. At age 7, Mary was diagnosed with a serious mental illness and battled many additional physical ailments throughout her entire life. She would have had every right to be miserable but instead Mary was a relentlessly cheerful person. She never met a stranger and was interested in everyone she had the chance to interact with. Mary’s favorite pastime was checking in on her loved ones through daily phone calls, we will really miss receiving those calls! It was clear how much she loved her family, friends, and all of her caretakers. She was gentle and affectionate with everyone – just don’t forget to get her what she asked for on Christmas and her birthday! Mary Ellen will be sorely missed by all. There will never be another one like her.

Mary is survived by her beloved mother, Diane, and her four siblings, Katie McCracken and her husband Chris and son Andrew, Laura Helland and her husband Bill and children Sarah and Ben, and her brothers Karl and Michael Kubik. She is also survived by her dear aunts, Linda Pratt, Vicki Belt, Roseanne Oberfield, Janice Kubik, and uncle Bob Kubik. Her surviving family will try to honor her life by embracing everything life has to offer – both the struggles and the triumphs.

Her dearly loved father Dick Kubik, and her grandparents, Karl and Brigita Kubik, preceded her death. Mary mentioned often how much she was looking forward to being with them again in heaven.

A celebration of her life will be held on the anniversary of her birth this summer.
