Mary Anne Flora Christman, age 90, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, on September 11, 1927, to the late Cashard and Mabel Flora. Mary Anne was a graduate of The Ohio State University, and retired from there after 20 years with the Department of Pathology - Chemistry Laboratory. As a young girl, Mary Anne began playing the cello. She was an accomplished cellist, having played with the Lima Symphony Orchestra, the Canton Symphony Orchestra and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra; as well as, Women in Music Columbus. Mary Anne continued to play concert dates and events until she was 89. She was a member of PEO Sisterhood and Boulevard Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 62 years, Richard Christman; infant daughter, Paula Elaine and daughter, Linda Logsdon; sister, Jeanette Diller. Mary Anne is survived by sons, Mark (Lisa) Christman and David (Kelly) Christman; grandchildren, Jody Blair, Kendall, Justin and Taylor Christman, Katie (Paul) Newman and Emily (Dale) Owens; great grandchildren, Lauren and Danielle Blair and Cole Owens; nephew Calvin Diller and niece Kathleen Williams and several other extended family. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Ohio Living Westminster Thurber for the excellent care and love she received. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 7th, at the Boulevard Presbyterian Church, 1235 Northwest Blvd., Columbus; Rev. Preston Shealy officiating.
