Mary Ann (Bland) Beverly passed away at age 93 in her home on November 19, 2010. She was born on May 31, 1917, to Alfred and Mary Bland in Columbus, Ohio. Mary attended Bexley High School, Ohio State University, Purdue University, and Capital University. She worked for Commercial Motor Freight, Ohio Bell, and Lane Aviation. After attending Capital University, she pursued a teaching career in the Groveport and Licking Heights Schools. She earned her pilots license and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. A joy for her was flying from Columbus to other nearby cities to have breakfast with friends. Mary was also an avid animal lover and had an interest in veterinary medicine which she studied at OSU. Caring for stray cats and dogs was one of her passions. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Barton Beverly. She is survived by her son Robert “Tracey” Bland Beverly and daughter-in-law Jill. She has four grandchildren, Michelle Beverly (Chris) Gerbrick, Danielle Beverly (Dave) Rice, Kyle Beverly, and Camden Beverly. She also has four great grandsons, Carter, Chase, Kaleb, and Jacob. A memorial service in honor of Mary will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, where family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. Private graveside service at Green Lawn Cemetery.
