Marion was an ensign in the U.S. Navy prior to marrying Harold Joseph Baird on May 29th, 1950. Marion received her bachelor's degree from Allegheny College in Pennsylvania and a Master's degree from the University of Michigan. Marion was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Joseph Baird and her siblings, Myrtle Plum, Olive Kunz (Loren), Vivian Harding (Ray). She is survived by her children, Gary (Kathy) Baird of Upper Arlington, Donna (Gary) Vance of Tipp City, Ohio, Brian (Cyndi) Baird of Louisville, Colorado, and Laura (Calvin) John of Oakwood, Ohio; grandchildren, Linda Baird (Chuck Meyer) of Brooklyn, New York, Jim Baird of Washington D.C., Derek (Cady) Vance of Wilmington, Ohio, Marcus (Nicole) Vance of Westerville, Ohio, Dustin (Courtney) Vance of Galloway, Ohio, Travis Vance of Batavia, Ohio, Carter (Sofia) Baird of Edge Water, Colorado, Martin Baird of Louisville, Colorado, Larson Baird of Broomfield, Colorado, Christopher John, Zachary John, and Natalee John, all of Oakwood, Ohio; great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Grayce Vance; great-grandson, Henry Baird Meyer; great-granddaughter, Peyton Elizabeth Vance; numerous nieces and nephews throughout the country, and many wonderful friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Friday, September 19, 2014 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, OH. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Northwest Christian Church, 1340 Fishinger Rd., Columbus. Reverends Cynthia Adcock and Phyllis Heffner officiating. Internment at Dayton National Cemetery, VAMC, Dayton, Ohio.
