Marie B. Vivian

“And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.” Marie Barbara Vivian of Upper Arlington, born December 12, 1953, to James and Norma (nee Colasante) Ryan, passed away peacefully in the company of her family on December 28, 2023, taking with her all the love a person can. Marie’s journey through life was filled with places she remembered and treasured, from her schooling at St. Matthias elementary and DeSales High School, from which she graduated in 1971, through her endeavors in dance, modeling and raising show dogs, to her deep involvement in her children’s education and school activities. Marie was especially passionate in her love of music, and she cherished the times she accompanied Chip whenever his bands performed. Marie embraced the shifting landscapes of her life, knowing that “There are places I'll remember / All my life, though some have changed / Some forever, not for better / Some have gone and some remain.” Marie is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Neal (Chip) Vivian, her children, Lennon, Eric, Patrick and Shelley Koenig, her stepson, Andrew (Elizabeth) Vivian, her sister, Patricia Harris, her grandchildren, Maddox Koenig, and Micah, Esther, Miriam, Isaac, Ruth, Joel, Naomi and Benjamin Vivian, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and by a multitude of great friends. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her youngest sister, Kathi Rider, and her brother-in-law, Ken Harris. A funeral service will be held at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 1740 Zollinger Road, on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 10:00 am, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery. That same day there will also be a Celebration of Marie’s Life in the Italian-style, with food, beverage and storytelling, and the family would appreciate having all of Marie’s family and friends join them in remembering her at the Abruzzi Club, 273 Hanawalt Road, Westerville, from 1:00-6:00 pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations should be made in Marie’s memory to the Kobacker House or the Humane Society.
