Marguerite Ann (Gonzales) Rooney passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024. Marguerite was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She received her primary and secondary education in Donora, PA, and was a graduate of the Mercy Hospital Nursing School in Pittsburgh, PA. She became a U.S. Cadet Nurse. Her nursing career spanned over thirty years as a Registered Nurse at Grant and Ohio State hospitals in Columbus and then at St. John’s and Rockwell International in Tulsa, OK. She was a Head Nurse at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Marguerite was a Certified Paralegal graduate of Capital Law School where upon retiring from nursing she was employed by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio for twenty years. Marguerite was predeceased by parents: Jesus and Irene (Zekeres) Gonzales, brother Joseph, sister Ruth (Kubik), and husband Terence J. Rooney. She is survived by her children: Maureen Patton (Robert), Kathleen Strauss, Terence Rooney (Denise), Sheila Boyle (William), Kevin Rooney (Lisa), Erin Rooney, Shannon Rooney, Brian Rooney, Regan Rooney and Sean Rooney, and grandchildren: Shelley Losey Karabatkovic (Ognjen), Kristen Losey D’Andrea (Chris), Ryan Howley (Norma), Justin Strauss (Ritika), Jessica Strauss, Terence Rooney (Lauren), John Rooney (Tania), Keely Boyle Huey (Anthony), Shaun Boyle D’Arcy (James), Kathleen Boyle, W. Casey Boyle (Lorena), James Shorey Jr., Eleanor Shorey Ovsenik (Anthony), Ava Forystek, Sean Rooney Jr. (Taylor), Mara Vandongen (Kyle), and great-grandchildren: Olivia, Colin, Sean, Emma, Oliver, Cora, Alistair, Charlotte, Sophie, George, Evelyn, Margot, and Henry and many nieces and nephews and her neighbor friend Marcella King. Marguerite will be missed by all.
Calling hours are at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST at 1740 Zollinger Rd on November 14, 4:00-7:00 pm, the Funeral Mass will be at Immaculate Conception November 15 at 10:30 am with a ‘Celebration of Life’ reception to follow at the Marian Center at Immaculate Conception with the burial following at St Joseph Cemetery.
