Margaret Kearns "Peggy" Harman died peacefully on March 29, 2016 with family by her side. Peggy was born in 1924 in Gary, WV to Thelma (Francisco) and Walter J. Kearns. She is survived by her elder sister Kathryn Kirkwood (Gambrills, MD) and preceded in death by siblings Walter J. Kearns Jr., Thelma (Bentz), Barbara (Fischer), Paul Kearns and spouse Joseph (J.R.) Harman. Peggy is survived by 13 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. She graduated from St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing, Dayton, Ohio in 1945. Peggy retired from Mount Carmel East Hospital in 1992. Peggy was an incredibly caring and dedicated nurse. She found her life's calling in helping others and her compassion and understanding helped countless individuals struggling through life's challenges. Peggy devoted thousands of hours to her special causes, most notably Amethyst House and Mohun Health Care Center. For those of us that knew Peggy well we will always remember her homemade cakes and brownies and her love of Ireland and St. Patrick's Day. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield, WV. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Amethyst Inc, Attn: Development Department, 455 E. Mound Street, Columbus, OH 43215. A memorial service celebrating Peggy's life will be held in Columbus in the near future.
