Born September 6, 1944. Proud graduate of Linden McKinley Class of 1963, where he played football. Served in the Army Reserves. His knack for engaging people resulted in a successful career in insurance and hotel sales prior to his retirement in 2018. Preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Sharon Clay, mother Annabelle, father Henry, brothers, Bill and Bob Clay, and sister Betty (Sam) Lipari. Survived by sons Chris, Creig (Kate), Corey, sisters-in-law Denise Davis Henry, Kim (Jim) Cordetti and Sharon Ann Clay, nieces Olivia Henry, Leigh Cordetti, Tammy (Perry) Nolan, Michelle (Grant) Gaines, Pam (Rusty) Vance and nephews Tony Cordetti, Don (Sheri), Jeff (Sue), Mike (Debbie) Clay, and Sammy (Carol) Lipari. Cherished grandchildren include Emily (Jake) Swank, Tyler, Carson, Delaney, Ava and Alex Clay. He loved coaching, refereeing, spending time with his friends and family and attending church at Scioto Ridge United Methodist. Special friends include Steve and Jan Stone, George Callif, Wayne and Joanne Slyman and Julius Palazzo. He was blessed by God in many ways, but was especially thankful for the memories and relationships he formed through his years of sports involvement. He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends, who were always entertained by his stories. Family will receive friends from 4-7 P.M. Monday, April 22, 2024 at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Rd. Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church, 4343 Dublin Rd.
