Lauretta Edna Smith, 93, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014. She was born July 9, 1921 in East Orange, NJ to the late Cecil and Lauretta Smith. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Grove City. Lauretta was a homemaker who was very skilled in cooking, sewing, needlework and gardening. Plants thrived by just being in her presence. People did too. She was a wonderful mother! She will be missed more than words can express. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Goodwin John Smith; brothers, Ernest Simpson and Harrison Simpson; and her beloved infant triplet daughters. Lauretta is survived by 5 sons, Jack (Heather) Smith of Myrtle Beach, SC, Larry Smith of Chapel Hill, NC, Greg (Corinne) Smith of Dallas, TX, Robert (Carolyn) Smith of Beavercreek, OH, and Jeff (Brenda) Smith of Columbus, OH. She also was loved by 10 grandchildren, Chris, Scott, Sam, Ben, Corey, Justin, Jenny, Rachel, Nick, and Amber; 4 great grandchildren; cherished cousin, Carol Herslow; special friend, Ann Bailey; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 3-6 PM at the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. A private graveside committal will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA beside her husband, Goodwin Smith.
