Laura Jane McGinnis

Laura Jane McGinnis, age 92, of Columbus died December 6, 2010 at Friendship Village of Columbus. She was born May 24, 1918 in Kent, Ohio the daughter of the late Frank N. and Myrl Balthaser Harsh. She was an alumna of Kent State University High School, and the University of Cincinnati where she earned a BS in dietetics. Later she earned a BS in education from Kent State University. A retired teacher from Gahanna Jefferson Schools, Jane was pre-deceased by her husband of 61 years, Fred T. McGinnis and grandson, Eric Shumaker. Survived by sister Mildred Ann Kieselbach, Kent; children Nancy Shumaker, Alabama; Patricia (Don) Burnette, California; Carolyn (Tom) Nelson, Sunbury, Ohio; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 1 great, great grandchild. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11am Friday, December 10, 2010 at Union Cemetery, 3349 Olentangy River Rd., Columbus. Family suggests contributions be made to the Memorial Fund at Friendship Village of Columbus (5800 Forest Hills Blvd. Columbus 43230) in her memory.
