

Kay Groves Bixler, age 73, passed away suddenly Tuesday, February 3, 2015. She was born November 6, 1941 in Steubenville, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her father, Ralph Groves; mother, Catherine Caniff; and sister, Mary "Billie" Williamson. Kay is survived by her three loving children, Jeff Jones of Blacklick, Elizabeth DiMaio of Whitehall, and Mandy Hoover (Michael) of Mansfield; grandchildren, Loren Jones, Katie Bixler, Anthony Hunt, Samantha Ward, Skylar Ward, Sadie DiMaio, Vincent DiMaio, and Sophie DiMaio; sisters, Jane Belhorn and Nancy Fisher; nieces, nephews, numerous family and friends. Kay graduated from Bexley High School. She worked in the Civil Engineering field for over 25 years, last employed at Hockaden Associates. She retired as a librarian at the Richland County Public Library in Mansfield, Ohio. Kay was a life-long Democrat and was the founder of Women's Caucus at Richland County Democratic Headquarters. She was Democrat of the year in 2007. Kay was founder of the Ontario Craft Bazaar. She was an avid Bridge and Euchre player, and an Ohio State and Steelers football fan. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren; watching the View and the Chew; she never missed an episode of Big Brother; and she wanted everyone to know that she was a Girl Scout Leader.
