Oh, wow... I just saw this posted on Facebook. Katherine was a lovely woman. I am so sorry for your loss.

To the large family of Katherine Lee Colburn:. 

I was a classmate of Katie's in 1945 at Linden Mckinley. I graduated in January and she in June. I enlisted in the Air Force and she went on to OSU and started having babies. Our paths crossed briefly in 1985 when I came to Columbus for our 40th alumni gathering. She was teaching school and I was an executive with a large Los Angeles  real estate firm having gone to USC.

I came to Columbus in 2010 for another alumni gathering. In 2019 Katie had contacted me through Classmates an alumni organization.source. We then exchanged several emails as she was very well informed of the whereabouts of our classmates. She and I and Izzy Brinkman, her very dear friend had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory in New Albany. 

When I returned to Orange County Katie and I exchanged emails and we both realized that we felt the same about many things. This started a regular Sunday night call from me to her where we discussed anything and everything, politics,Trump body ailments. etc. During the week we exchanged hundreds of emails .After over ten years of this it will be an adjustment to life without Katie. I miss our Sunday calls already. She was an extremely intelligent person and a joy to me..     

I have been very verbose but I want to say one more thing. We speculated one night on what might have been between us. I Thought she was a cute little brunette but might be unapproachable because she was the leading lady in all of the plays be it musical, drama or whatever. She was a National Honor Society Member, etc, etc. I was the most bashful guy in Linden but she thought I was full of myself because I never spoke to her.  I was a big sports star and All City in Basketball and Baseball and the first class President in Linden's history. 

I really miss her but I offer my most heartwarming condolences to you one and all.

Katherine was one of the first ladies I met upon joining US Daughters of 1812. She was so friendly, vivacious, and a dynamo for the organization. I enjoyed each and every time I met her. She was a lovely lady and will be missed by many.

Praying for your peace and comfort during this time of grief and loss.  She had such a beautiful sense of heritage and family that she so generously shared with us all!

We're so sorry for the passing of Katherine.  We have so many memories of her.  She was my 12th grade English Lit teacher and became just "Teach" to me.  She was a fellow choir member to Rita and Tom.  Katherine will always be remembered as a great friend.

Even seeing her only annually at the McCullough Reunion, she’s a person who leaves a real impression! She was joyful and kind, and always eager to share a family story. Katherine and I served together on the NSDAR Executive Board during the Love Administration, and I had the privilege of knowing her over the years prior to that. She visited Iowa on numerous official occasions. Katherine was, hands down, one of the most fun-loving, intelligent and many faceted persons I've had the privilege of knowing.

It has been a blessing to know her through your family's abiding friendship with the Armstrongs for many decades.
