Judith "Judy" Ann Fisher, daughter of Laurence and Irvalee Fisher, born January 28, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio, died on May 26, 2017, from complications caused by her lifelong struggle with Diabetes. She was residing in Worthington at the time of her passing.
A graduate of Whetstone High School in 1976, Judy took a summer job in 1974 at a Wendy's restaurant working close to her Clintonville home. Recognized for her skills and abilities, she was promoted to the corporate office of Wendy's International in Dublin Ohio. She did not realize this would be her only place of employment, leaving as an Executive Assistant after serving over 36 years.
A loyal and dedicated employee, she participated in many events, charities, and parties that were sponsored and hosted by Wendy's International and the Dave Thomas Foundation.
Fighting her personal battle with Diabetes, Judy would swim in the Swim For Diabetes charity event to help raise money and awareness for research. Many of Judy's colleagues at Wendy's supported her at these events. Along with Swim For Diabetes, she thoroughly enjoyed working with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption each Christmas.
Judy often said that working at Wendy's International was like working with family; she felt loved, and all were very understanding when her illness would prevent her from working at times. With a chuckle, many of her peers remember Judy chasing the VP's down the halls of Corporate to instruct or make sure details were followed. She was a "take charge" person who was detailed oriented to get things done and her VP's loved that quality in her.
Introduced to Weight Lifting in the 1980's with the opening of World Gym, she was instrumental in kicking off the initial Arnold Schwarzengger Classic when it began in Columbus. In those early years, Judy participated extensively. The Arnold Classic continues to be held annually in Columbus and it remains a major event for the city.
Judy had a personal love and gifted talent as an Interior Decorator and shared it with many who knew her. Her amazing creativity and home decorating style was admired and sought after by family and friends. She was a master at creating beautiful floral arrangements and refinishing furniture with a whimsical flair with color, style and bargains galore!
She also had a knack for creating gift baskets that were second to none. She filled and packaged each with the perfect selection and design.
Additionally, she loved designing and caring for her outdoor landscaping/garden which her neighbors loved. They were all aware of Judy's illness and fondly referred to her as "Miss Judy." They did their best to watch over her, enjoying her smiles, friendship and laughter, and loved the little surprises that she dotted the gardens with.
She loved the sun and would spend every waking moment laying out enjoying it. At work, she would take in the sun during lunch, morning and afternoon breaks. Without question, she was a serious sun worshipper.
Judy enjoyed good times at Lake Cumberland in KY with her gang of friends and loved the tailgaiting parties at The Shoe. A longtime member of a special Girls and Couples Euchre Club, Judy was known to be a real card shark. She especially looked forward to celebrating milestone birthdays with her close network of family and friends, especially the close six "Wendy's Girls."
In recent years, she enjoyed re-decorating her condo and enjoyed the peace and solace it gave her. And while Judy was unable to get out as often, she would stay in touch with family and friends through social media, which she dearly loved.
And then there were her cats! Always better known as "her kids," they had a special place in her heart as she took in several over the years. Judy was never without at least one cat with the last two being Brady and Gary.
Judy will be sorely missed by her family and all that knew her. She is survived by her mother, Irvalee (Schenk) Fisher, two sisters, Karen (Guilkey) Fisher, and Amy Fisher, brother Jeff Fisher, sister in-law, Abigail Fisher. She was God Parent to her nephew Graham Fisher (wife Leah Storrs-Fisher), as well as survived by her niece, Leah Fisher (husband, Dave Holland ) and Nick Fisher (partner Ms. Nel Fritsche) and nephew Zachary Guilkey, as well as many cousins, and friends who were considered family. She was predeceased by her father, Larry.
