Joyce Teal, age 71, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2018. She was born December 20, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio to her parents William Riser and Harriet Stevens. Joyce grew up in Pickaway County, and would meet her husband John Daniel Teal while she worked at the South Bloomfield Inn. They were married on October 3rd, 1986, and they spent 32 years of a wonderful marriage together. Joyce enjoyed her work at Goodwin’s family restaurant, where she was a cook there for the busy morning shifts for about 26 years. Joyce was a strong woman, who even though she had a long history of fighting diseases such as Myasthenia Gravis and Lupus, she never complained and she was determined to live her life to the fullest. She loved spending time with family, including making trips to Arizona to see her loved ones. She loved crossword puzzles and knitting, and baking for her friends and family. She always had a great time with her beloved Cocker Spaniels D.J. and Max. Joyce was a fighter of disease and a lover of life who will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Donna Scardina.
Left to mourn her passing is her loving husband John “Dan” Teal; her brother William T. Riser; her nephew William E. Riser; her brother-in-law Ross Scardina; her neice Lee Ann Scardina; her nephew Tony (Lorianne) Scardina Jr.; and her great-nephew Anthony Scardina.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 5th from 4 to 8pm at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, located at 151 East Main Street Circleville, Ohio. Joyce’s funeral service will be held on Friday April 6th at 10:00am with Pastor Kevin Gruver officiating at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hitler Ludwig Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joyce’s memory to Fresenius Kidney Care, 790 North Court Street Circleville, or to The Multiple Sclerosis Society, 651 Lakeview Plaza Blvd g, Columbus, Ohio 43085.
