Joseph J. Melvin

Joseph J. Melvin, age 73, passed away at his residence on August 1, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents; John and Virginia (McCollum) Melvin. He is survived by his children; Cindy Melvin, Melinda (Howard Jackson) Melvin, Joseph James Melvin, Justin Joseph Melvin, grandchildren; Trae Meeks, Austin Brinkley, Whitney Jackson, Jaycee Melvin, Chase Melvin, siblings; Mark Melvin, Luke (Pamela) Melvin, Marie Melvin, Virginia Melvin, Jean (Ron) Eddlebute, and his loving companion of 24 years, Laurie Ackenclose, and her children; Matt and Katie Ackenclose, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Joseph or JJ #2 retired from Conrail with over 30 years of service. He graduated from Westerville High School and went right into the Marine Corp where he served during the Viet Nam War. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, coin collector, Pittsburgh Steelers fan, OSU Buckeye fan. Joseph was President of the Baseball league in Williamsport and also was a coach. He never met a stranger and could talk to anyone and everyone. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 1 pm with visitation following from 2-5 pm at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY 3920 Broadway, Grove City, OH. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital. The visitation and funeral are for family members only. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.
