

Joseph Howard Davis, beloved local sports journalist, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the age of 54, following a lengthy illness. Joe was born January 15, 1958 in Alma, Michigan to the late Howard and Irene Davis. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Ohio University in Journalism and wrote for the Parkersburg News and Sentinel and the Marietta Times. He loved baseball, especially the Reds, and was a member of the Mid-Ohio Valley Sports Hall of Fame Committee. He was also a member of the Parkersburg Moose Lodge #1118. Joe is survived by his brothers and sisters, Paul (Shirley) Davis of Belpre, OH, Ron (Mary Ann) Warju, Evelyn (Jerry) Jones, Barbara (Al) Wilson, Dorothy (Dr. Morry) Chapin, Mary Hemingway, and Caroline Jennings, all of Michigan, and Bill Davis of Marion, OH; numerous nieces and nephews; and close lifelong friend, Fred Wagenheim of Belpre, OH.
