Johnnie Lewis “Cinn-O-Mann” Whitson, Sr., a loving and people person. Will be honored and remembered in a celebration of life service. Born on November 26, 1950, in Berry, Alabama to the late Hazel (Finch) and Willie Whitson. Upon graduating East High School in 1968, he enlisted in the Marines where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the M-14 Rifle Sharpe shooter Badge.
Living in both Alabama and Ohio, Johnnie touched a lot of people. There was not a place he went to that he did not already know someone or that he did not become friends with someone. He could and would strike up a conversation with anyone. Those that came in contact with him always remembered his funny and joking personality along with his big smile. He was a caring, loving and giving person.
Working as an accountant for Bank One for many years until he retired. He continued his service for this country by working for DFAS. There, he helped developed the accounting system for the department of defense. He transferred to Alabama, where he continued working as a government accountant. While In Alabama, he opened his own bakery named Cinn-O-Mann's. Producing the best cinnamon rolls and cheesecakes in Huntsville, Alabama. In addition to baking, Johnnie enjoyed fishing, cooking, and eating his favorite food chicken wings. The flats were his favorite.
After retiring for the second time, he moved back to Ohio where he took on his favorite Job, being Papa.
Johnnie is survived by his sister, Karen Whitson; son, Johnnie L. Whitson, Jr.; daughter, Joyce Whitson; and their mother, Carolyn Whitson; granddaughter, Jelena Whitson-Johnson and aunt, Louise Brewer. Among many cousins and friends.
Family will receive friends 12:00 pm -1:00 pm Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where the funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm.
