John “Jack” T. Weaver, Sr., 75, of Worthington, entered into eternal rest Sunday, October 2, 2011. He was born December 13, 1935 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late John and Mary Louise (Higgins) Weaver.
Jack was a graduate of Madison High School, Madison, NJ, where he played basketball, football, and baseball. He then attended Gannon University in Erie, PA. Jack worked for Hiram Walker and lived in Erie and Pittsburgh before moving to Columbus in 1977. He retired as the State Manager and then became employed with Postiy Wine & Spirits as the Marketing Manager before his second retirement.
Jack was a member of St. Peter Church. He was an avid OSU Buckeye, Yankees, and Steelers fan, enjoyed yearly golf outings with “The Great Smokies Caper” and was the treasurer for the tailgate group “The Gate”. Jack was a handyman and was known for his impeccable landscaping and his garage. He was very well liked, loved his family more than words, and was as honest as the days are long. Jack will be remembered for the way he valued his family and friends, his kindness, feistiness, and his perfectionism.
Jack will be missed by his high school sweetheart and wife of 54 years, Leone; children, Mary Lou (Bob) McFarland, Ambler, PA, John “Jack”, Jr. (Michele) Weaver, Deerfield Twp., OH, and Beth (Jim) Joyce, Mason, OH; and grandchildren, Rob, Megan, and Kerry McFarland, Sarah and Christina Weaver, and Justin and Jonathan Joyce. Jack’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the many neighbors, friends, and caregivers who touched his heart throughout his illness.
Family will receive friends Friday, October 7, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., Worthington (Just south of I-270). Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6899 Smoky Row Rd., Columbus, Rev. Fr. Justin J. Reis, Celebrant.
