John J. “Dirty John” Sheridan, age 74 was born in Columbus on November 26, 1937. He died on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Westerville with his family at his side. He is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Mary Sheridan; son, David; brothers, Billy and Phil; sisters, Patricia and Mary Ann Dickson. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lois Jean; sons, Paul, Donald (Dawn), and daughter, Linda Robertson. He also leaves 3 grandchildren, J.J., Paul Jeremy and Sidney Sheridan; 4 great grandchildren, Eli, Leah, Lucas and Melody, plus many nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. John owned and operated his own body shop for many years until his battle with Parkinson’s disease caused his dementia and pain. John loved to race anything with wheels. He built a replica of an antique sprint car and bought a 1940 Ford coupe. He belonged to AARA and VARC. He did a lot of work on cars for which he charged very little. He enjoyed helping others. John also loved spending time with his granddaughter, Sidney. Friends may call from 5-8pm, Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the SCHOEDINGER CLEVELAND AVE CHAPEL 2741 Cleveland Ave. where the funeral service will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday, May 30, 2012.
