John Douglas Miller, age 53, of Powell, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2010. John was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Richard and Norma Miller on December 22, 1956. John grew up in Westerville and graduated from Westerville South High School in 1974. John displayed a great mechanical aptitude while working at Firestone as a mechanic. He attended Columbus Technical Institute, where he excelled and majored in Computer Sciences. After college, John worked at Harrison Enterprises, where he was plant manager. Soon after, he accepted a job offer with Floyd Bell, Inc., where he rose to VP of Manufacturing. In 1994 he wed Samantha Utt. Survived by parents, Richard and Norma Miller; wife, Samantha Miller; children, Sean, Heather and Hannah Miller; brother, Rick Miller, and much extended family. He had a terrific sense of humor, which was unique and memorable. In addition to his skill with all things mechanical in nature, he had a keen interest in electronics and woodworking. Throughout his life, John showed a great deal of affection for animals and rescued more than a few. His passion for animals was only surpassed by his love of family. He was a loving father, husband, son, brother and uncle, whose dedication to family was steadfast and unwavering. He was always willing to help those in need, whether they were family, friends or strangers. John was an enthusiastic foster parent for several years and undoubtedly changed the lives of multiple foster children for the better. He had a firm belief in God and is now reunited with Him. John will be sorely missed. Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 2-4pm at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221.
