John Forrest Kaiser, age 58 of Gahanna, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010. He was born July 16, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri; he was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from civil service. After retirement, John was a substitute teacher in the language arts department of Gahanna Lincoln High School. Many young adults have benefited from John’s unique mentoring skills. He was always available to help them write resumes, edit various writings, or kick their butts when they needed it. John was a member of the St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church and the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, collecting Sterling silver, and collecting coins. He also enjoyed dining out which led to many wonderful friendships as well as contributing substantially to the local economy. He is survived by his loving wife, Jerrilynn; children, Eliza and Ivory Poore; brother, Donald (Cindie) Kaiser of Murfreesboro, TN; nephews, Bryan and Eric Kaiser, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Forrest and Mildred (Warren) Kaiser. Services will be held 10:00 am Monday, November 15, 2010 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 233 S. State Street, Westerville. Interment will be at Lakewood Park Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, American Heart Association, or the Veteran’s Administration. Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger Northeast Chapel.
