A visitation will be held in his honor at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085 on June 2nd from 4pm-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 6899 Smoky Row Road, Columbus, OH 43235 on June 3rd at 11:00 am. Joel's funeral service will be available on livestream on St. Peter's Facebook and Website. ()
Joel was born in Wadsworth, OH to Bob and Mildred Kallman (both deceased). He is survived by his six siblings, Bob Jr. (Glenda), Jane, Kathy (Terry), Tom, Neil (Margaret), and Sue.
Joel graduated with a degree in Computer Science from The Ohio State University College of Engineering. He held various jobs in IT before joining Oracle in 1996. For the next quarter of a century Joel poured himself into his work; his vision, tenacity, and voice were instrumental in the creation of Oracle APEX, a web-based software development platform.
Joel's drive and passion for his life's work enabled him to travel the world, meet and nurture lifelong friendships, and solidify himself as an amazing mentor and invaluable asset to his Oracle team. He truly believed in working diligently, with integrity, grit, and enthusiasm. He did this tirelessly, selflessly and with pure dedication. He made an indelible footprint in his field.
In 1994, Joel married Kristin (Wagner) Kallman. Joel and Kristin were the loves of each other's lives. Together they shared a passion for faith, family and friends. They were fortunate to travel to many beautiful places in the world, with their favorite destination being a trip to Israel.
In 2005, they were blessed with the birth of their son Zachary. Joel was a loving husband and devoted father. He enjoyed sharing interests, memories and various trips with Zachary including a yearly trek to the Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Their bond was a loving testament between father and son.
Joel will be forever remembered by his wife and best friend, Kristin; their son, Zachary; and his family and friends.
