Joe Robert Fowler

Joe Robert Fowler passed away at his under the care of Mt. Carmel hospice, at his home on May 13, 2024. He joins his wife Sondra “Kay” Fowler; his parents Carl and Marjorie Vaughn Fowler; sister Marcia and brother in law Floyd Hildreth.

Joe was a graduate of Central High School in January 1957 where he actively participated in football, baseball, basketball, and drama club. Joe was a proud veteran having served with the United States Army from 1957-1963, receiving high marks for marksmanship with rifle followed by becoming a Staff Sargent in the Tank division. He was a member of the Columbus Police Auxiliary from 1961-1970, where he earned the rank of Sergeant. He was a 50 year mason of the Avery Lodge #493 F&AM, and also a Scottish Rite member. Joe also highly enjoyed coaching baseball and football. He enjoyed spending time with his family. In his free time, he loved hunting, fishing, trap shooting and playing cards.

He is survived by children Kenneth Fowler; Katherine Fowler (Les Jones); grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Michael Monroe (Madilynn & Mitchel Monroe), Mathew & Sharna Monroe (Micah Monroe, Jayden & Eli Neil), Miranda & Jordan Cannon (Jay-James Cannon); brother in law Marvin Weisheimer; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Military Honors and a Masonic service will begin at 4:30pm on Friday, May 24, 2024 at ADVANTAGE by SCHOEDINGER NORTH, 5554 Karl Road in Columbus where visitation will follow from 5:00-7:00pm. A private cremation will follow.
