Joan B. Fritz

Joan Barbara Fritz (nee Miller), 88, formerly of Maumee, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2021 at Kensington Place in Columbus, Ohio where she moved to be close to her family. Joan was born August 8, 1933 in Bristol, Connecticut to the late Elsie (Elgert) and Gustav Miller. She was a 1951 graduate of Sandusky High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Ohio University in 1955. She was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Joan married her college sweetheart, Joe Fritz, on September 14, 1957, and enjoyed 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2019. She was a former member of Providence Lutheran Church in Holland, Ohio. Joan is survived by her children Judy (Brad) Kopp and Jim Fritz; grandchildren Andrea (Josh) Cywinski, Jeremy (Christie) Kopp, Katie (Andy) Athens, Lucas Fritz and Brett Fritz; great-grandchildren: Cora, Hazel and Philip Cywinski, Sophia and Eloise Kopp, William, Adam, Zachary and Emma Athens; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Joan was preceded in death by her brother Gustav Miller Jr. Friends may call 3-5pm Monday, October 18, 2021 at Schoedinger Northeast, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, OH 43230 where the service will begin at 5pm; Pastor Tim Iseringhausen, officiating; graveside service 12:30pm Tuesday, October 19th at Springfield Twp.
