Jill Staples Thomas, affectionately known as Minx, 82, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on August 4, 2023. She was born February 14, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Jack and Leah Staples. She was a graduate of Hathaway Brown H.S. and Smith College, BA 1963. Jill leaves behind her loving husband of 59 years, Duke Thomas; children Debbie (Mike) Kelley, Bill (Amy) Thomas, and Judy (Thad) Hudson; grandchildren Jack, Molly, Will, Andrew, Tom, and Ty; and sister Judy (Toby) Perry and brother Jim (Cathy) Staples. Jill is preceded in death by her parents and brother Jack. Minx was happiest at the beach with her family or curled up reading a book. This year marks 20 consecutive years with her husband, all her children and their spouses, and her grandchildren, at OBX. She was the proud founder and director of the Heart to Heart program at First Community Church for over 20 years. Under her leadership, Heart to Heart grew from a church volunteer-to-community program to a fully licensed food pantry at FCC. She was a member of Couples Circle, A # 1, Guild 7, the Seven Ups, and SOTTS. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on August 12, 2023, at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd. The family will then meet friends at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Rd, from 12:30 - 2:30pm.
