Jeanette M. Downs

Jeanette Marie Downs, age 63 of Columbus, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012. Jeanette was born and raised in Columbus, daughter of the late Emil and Mary Bratka. Also preceded in death by her brothers, Jon E. and Walter Mitchell Bratka. Jeanette graduated from Walnut Ridge High School, Class of 1966 and attended Franklin University. Jeanette worked as an accountant throughout her career and most recently worked at Roger C. Perry & Co. Jeanette was a very caring person who always put others needs above her own. She could never say no to any request and had the ability to turn any negative into a positive. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, the Red Hat Society, and truly enjoyed spending time in her garden watching everything bloom. Most of all however, Jeanette loved bringing family together spending time with all of them. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 40 years, Russell Downs; children, Michelle, Brett and Todd Downs and Mark Jeffries; grandchildren, Ryleigh, Kristen, Sunny, and Zach; great granddaughter, Amanda; siblings, Larry (Carrie) Bratka, Annette (Will) Towner, Becky (Johnny) Morrison, Alice (Dale) Croft, and Lynne (Susan Tilgner) Bratka; sisters-in-law, Carolyn (James) Poole and Donna Bratka; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Memorial services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1200 Waggoner Rd., Reynoldsburg. Family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M.
