Janice M. Smith

Janice M. Smith, 77, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Thursday, November 4, 2021. She was born on February 22, 1944, in Columbus to Wesley and Dorothy Lanning, who precede her in death.

In addition to her parents, Janice is preceded in death by her former husband of 55 years, and father of her children, Jack D. Smith in March 2021; brother, Wesley Lanning; and sister, “Sissy Girl” Lanning.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa A. Giammarco and Jacqueline M. Birchfield; grandchildren: Sean (Jen) Graham, Thomas E. Cox III, Christopher D. Birchfield, Lindsy M. Birchfield, and Shane W. Birchfield; great-grandchildren, Caylee Marie and Madison Grace Graham.

Janice will be remembered as a loving mom and grandma. She enjoyed spending her time bowling and taking care of her family. She will be deeply missed by all of her friends and family.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 5pm-7pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTH, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, where a Funeral Service will take place the following morning at 10am. Guests are respectfully asked to wear masks to ensure safety for everyone attending.

Interment will follow her Funeral Service at Kingwood Memorial Park in Lewis Center.
