Janet L. Collins - Keck

Janet L. Collins-Keck, age 81, unexpectedly passed away at her home on Friday, December 15, 2023. Janet was born on February 14, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio to Mary and Chester Scowden. She is survived by her only son, Howard (Donna) Collins; grandson, Lee (Angie) Schneider; Josh (Deidre) Collins; Janet Schneider; Allen (Tracy) Payne; Alleson Collins; Ryan Collins; 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandgirl; brothers Leonard (Sally) Scowden; and James (Clare) Scowden; and numerous nieces and nephews. Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Chester; husband, Robert Keck; daughters, Veronica (Terry) Hicks and Mary Schneider; grandchildren, TJ Collins and Misty Schneider; sister, Sandra Baker; brothers Joseph Scowden and Dale Scowden.

Janet was a warrior for life and always found the possible through her strong-will and determination. Her family was her haven for all good things. As an avid reader, and sometime traveler, she loved discovering new opportunities for adventure especially when it resulted in a good story. She enjoyed sewing, decorating her home, and in her retirement sleeping-in. Janet dabbled in real-estate, learning to fly, making ceramics, volunteering in the community, and taking college courses. Janet was a member of Sigma Phi Gamma International Sorority and American Legion Don Gentile Post #532. Janet is retired from Grant Medical Center.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 pm on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services by Schoedinger Hilltop, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204 where funeral service will be held on December 21, 2023 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Kevin Chambers officiating. Inurnment Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
