Jane Powell Farrell

Jane was born in Gainesville, GA to William A. Powell and Tempie Timmerman Powell. She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She met William I. Farrell on a golf course in Troy, NC, and in 1960, they were the first couple married in the newly-built Troy First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, William A. Powell Jr. and Fred A. Powell, and two sisters, Helen Powell Statton and Frances Powell Hodge. Jane is survived by her husband, William I. Farrell and her brother, Mike Powell of Reston, Virginia.

She is also survived by three children, William I. Farrell, III of Cincinnati, OH, Mary Jane Farrell of Columbus, OH and Richard Farrell (Alyssa) of Greensboro, NC and her nephew Dr. David Powell (Amanda) of Columbus. She has five grandchildren: Anna Farrell, Will Farrell, Grace Farrell and Alex Farrell of Greensboro, NC and Emma Farrell of Cincinnati, OH.

Jane greatly enjoyed her friends and their BCBC Book Club, and one of her most fulfilling activities was packing Brown Bag Lunches for school children in need with her friends at Northwest United Methodist Church. Her greatest accomplishment was taking care of her family.

The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital, First Community Village, and National Church Residence Hospice.
