At age 15, Jim came to Columbus, OH on Dec. 7, 1941 (Pearl Harbor Day) and enlisted as a U.S. Navy Seabee. In 1954, he became the co-founder and owner of Wright Brothers Excavating Co. in Columbus, retiring in 2006.
Jim was a member of the Greek Annunciation Cathedral, a life member of the Worthington Hills Country Club, member of Avery Lodge #493 FandAM, and Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus. He will be missed by his Wednesday gin game buddies and his breakfast club at Bob Evans on Bethel Rd. where they are still holding a seat for him.
Jim was an avid golfer and has bragging rights to several "hole in one's". He enjoyed his collections of antique and classic cars. His family would like to thank the Doctors who cared for Jim and many thanks to the caring staff at Kobacker House.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Angero "Ann"; and siblings, Roy, Raymond, Donnie, Mildred, Robert, and Grace. Jim will be missed by his loving daughters, Antonia "Toni" Wright (James T. Ford), Stephanie (Daniel) Baker, and Jamie (John) Manning; four grandchildren, Michael Manning (Emily Lloyd), Nicholas Manning, Christopher Baker, and Alexis Baker; sisters-in-law, Caroline Barbour and Angeline (Leo) Lenzini; best friend, Guy Tolliver, many nieces, nephews and many close friends.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 2-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus, OH. Funeral on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 10 a.m. at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 555 N. High St., Columbus, Reverend Father Demetrios Gardikes, officiating. Entombment Union Cemetery.
