James Kenneth Thompson 98 years old and longtime resident of Upper Arlington passed away November 23, 2024. He was his wife’s best friend, better half, husband, soul mate, and rock. He will be deeply missed, as he was Barbara’s whole life, they were always together and never apart. They were married 49 years on October 4, 2024. Ken was born in Lancaster, Ohio on May 28, 1926, to Neal and Helen Thompson. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara, Sister Nancy Abbott of Kremmling, Colorado, Brother-in-law Howard Mcmeans Jr. and wife Sue of Dublin, Ohio, Brother-in-law James Michael Mcmeans and wife Karen of Hilliard, Ohio. Preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law Louise and Paul Kumler of Bay Village, Ohio. Ken attended The Ohio State University where he graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree. Soon after Ken went onto work for Battelle for 40 some years in various different projects. Ken loved to read about aviation, history, biographies and astronomy. He also loved to go to Panera his favorite place. His very favorite place was his backyard and enclosed patio. He enjoyed sitting admiring the landscaping as he watched the world go by, nature and the birds coming to the bird feeders. Ken especially liked watching the male cardinals and the hummingbirds. Ken also enjoyed having dinner out on the enclosed patio with his wife. There will be a private family service followed by a private family burial at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
