James “Jim” William Miller, Jr, age 63, passed away at St. Ann’s Hospital on Wednesday, November 11, 2015. He was born June 28, 1952 and grew up in Titusville, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Irene L. Stocker Miller; their children: daughter, Jessica (Jason) Mitchell; son, James W. “Jake” Miller, III; mother Barbara (Jim) Curtis; brother Tom (Joyce) Miller; sister Kandy (Mike) Carter; step-grandchildren: Ethan and Ian Mitchell; nephews: Andy Miller, Dan (Michelle) Miller, Tom McCall, Tanner McCall and Michael (Mikayla) McCall; great-nephew, Phoenix McCall. He is preceded in death by his father, James W. Miller, Sr.
Jim was employed as a Labor Relations Attorney with ODOT and OCB. He graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Capital Law School. Jim had several passions: he was an avid Buckeye fan and loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. Jim hosted the annual “Miller Low Life Golf Tournament”. You could always rely on him to have a deck of cards handy.
Friends and family will gather from 2-5pm, Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High Street in Worthington, where his Memorial Service will be held from 2:15-2:30pm, that afternoon. In lieu of flowers, Jim’s family asks that if you ever had heartburn, please follow up with your family physician, and ask to have an Upper Endoscopy for early detection of Esophageal Cancer.
