James E. "Jimmy" Johnston, Sr. age 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at home. James was born in Columbus on May 1, 1940 to Robert K. and Mary (O'Dowd) Johnston. Jimmy worked for Robert Shaw Die Casting prior to owning and operating J and J Towing for many years. He enjoyed hunting in Southern Ohio and spending time with his wife and family. Jimmy will be remembered for being a fanatical OSU fan, bleeding scarlet and gray on any given Saturday as he watched Ohio State Football. In addition to OSU he was dedicated to watching the western drama series Gunsmoke. On August 28, 2016 his beloved wife, Patricia Ann "Pat", whom he spent 60 loving years with passed away. They are now reunited again for eternity. He is also preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Anthony and Justin; siblings, Albert "Oopie", Helen, Mary Katherine, Dorothy "Dot", Jean and Betty. He leaves behind his children, James Johnston Jr. (Loretta Gregory), Michael Johnston (Robin); Joann Johnston (Brian Ross), Christopher Johnston (Jennifer Blair) and Michelle Johnston (Matthew Saulsbury); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Loretta Crist; along with other family and friends. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at HOPE and HEART FUNERAL HOME by Schoedinger, 3030 W.
