James (Jim) Edward Huggins of Grove City, OH, entered Heaven on April 2, 2011 at the age of 72. Jim was born to, Raymond and Edna Huggins in Weirton, WV on March 10, 1939. He grew up in Bloomingdale, OH. Jim graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in Wollaston, MA, where he met his bride of 47 years, Freda Stevens Huggins. Jim and Freda moved to Kansas City, MO where he graduated with a M.A. in Religion from Nazarene Theological Seminary. Jim pastored churches in Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio, completing over 30 years of ministry before retiring in 1996. Jim was a huge sports fan cheering the Ohio State Buckeyes, Pittsburgh Steelers and Boston Celtics to many victories, but his favorite games remained those that his children and grandchildren played in. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Later in life, Jim spread encouragement around the world through creating personalized cards for thousands of people. He enjoyed an active prayer life as he walked hand in hand with The Father. Jim was the beloved husband of Freda (Stevens) Huggins of Grove City, and is survived by his mother, Edna Huggins of Richmond, a sister, Edna June Woodward of Richmond, a brother, Ronald Huggins of Amsterdam. He is the father of Deborah L. (Stephen) McKay of Grove City, David J. (Rachel) Huggins of Chillicothe, and Steven P. (Melissa) Huggins of Chillicothe. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Cameron, Carrie, Paige, Payne, Audrey and Jack. Jim is predeceased by Baby Boy Huggins (1970) and his father, Raymond Huggins (1973). As Jim’s life totally revolved around the church, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Grove City Church of the Nazarene, 4770 Hoover Road, Grove City, OH 43123 so that ministry may continue in his name. Jim’s life was about investing in others. That investment will continue through to the next generation.
