James “Jim Earl” Hasson, age 77 of Canal Winchester, passed away Friday, July 23, 2010 surrounded by his family. Jim was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Ellis and Jenny Hasson. Also preceded in death by his brother, Kirk Hasson and sister, Jane Hoover. As a young adult, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Following his time in the service, Jim worked as a service manager for Columbia Gas and eventually retired after 37 years of service. Jim was truly one of a kind; he was a very patient, optimistic man who never met a stranger. He enjoyed, working with wood, making people laugh and feel comfortable, but most of all Jim loved and appreciated his family and the time spent with them. He will be missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy Hasson; children, Cheryl (David) Smith, Michael (Kim) Hasson, and Melissa (James) Newton; grandchildren, Amanda, Danielle, Michael, and Dakota; brothers, Wayne (Peggy) and Bob (Donna) Hasson; sisters, Yvonne Zufall Frances Gale, Marilyn Eichensehr, and Arleen Merringer; special nephew, Duane Smith; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Monday.
