James David Beck, 72, Grove City, formerly of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015. He was born January 1, 1943, in Atmore, Alabama, to the late Henry and Edith Beck. He began a career in horseracing on the backside and worked for many years as a Starter. He earned a Senior Steward Certification from the Racing Official Accreditation Program at the University of Louisville. Jimmy worked at Beulah Park Racetrack for 25 years and was most recently a State Steward at Mt. Pleasant Meadows Horse Track. Family was very important to Jimmy and he loved to travel. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. Jimmy was an avid golfer and a huge University of Kentucky Wildcats fan. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Clinton and Glenn Beck and Patricia Parker. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Mary Joseph Beck; sons, Edward (Stephanie Garrison) of Grove City, OH, Jarrod (Christine Foster) of Midway, KY, and David of Grove City, OH; grandchildren, Ashley and Nicholas Beck; and many other relatives and dear friends. Visitation will be held 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3710 Broadway. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 PM.
