Jack C. Trimmer, age 80, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010. Jack was born June 22, 1929 to the late Henry and Ina (Roush) Trimmer and grew up on the west side of Columbus. He graduated from West High School in 1947 and then served in the US Army. After his military service Jack attended OSU, studying in the field of horticulture and forestry. He was employed for several years at Sunset Cemetery and later as a salesman for DaNite Signs where he retired in 1992. Jack was a member of West Gate Lodge #623 F. & A. M., Mt. Vernon Commandery, Aladdin Shrine Patrol; Hilltop Kiwanis; NRA; Ohio Gun Collectors Association; and the Buckeye Valley Retriever Club. Jack enjoyed many outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and trap shooting as well as attending the sporting events of his grandchildren. His passion was antiquing. For many years he has served as an Antique Appraiser and Museum Consultant. In addition to his parents, Jack is also preceded in death by his brothers, Bob and James Trimmer. Jack is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marcella, whom he met while at OSU; sons, Jeffrey (Stacey) Trimmer of Stow, and Jamie (Carol) Trimmer of Dublin, Ohio; grandchildren, Nicole, Jeffrey, Victoria, Christopher, Justin, and Jared; and brother, Don Trimmer. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held on Saturday, February 13 with a visitation 1-3 p.m. followed by a Masonic Service at 3 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL 3030 W. Broad St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hilltop Kiwanis Club in Jack’s memory.
