Jack F. Olson, 97, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2022. Jack was born on March 2, 1925, to William M. and Hilda (Coons) Olson in Youngwood, PA, and was the youngest of five children, all who preceded him in death. Jack served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946, discharged as a yeoman first class. He served aboard the USS Heywood (APA 6) in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was a 1950 graduate of St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa and earned an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh in 1960. Jack retired from Nationwide Insurance as Senior Vice President of Business and Western Operations in December 1989, following 36 years of service. He achieved the professional designations of CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) and CPU (Chartered Life Underwriter).
Residing in Upper Arlington for more than 50 years, Jack was a member of St. Agatha, St. Timothy, and St. Andrew parishes, serving on financial committees. He was a longtime member of Ohio State President's Club and Mill Creek Golf Club (where he was coordinator of the Olson Group).
Jack's true love and legacy was his family. He was married for 65 years to Mary Kaye Griffin Olson. She, son David, and granddaughter Katie preceded him in death.
Jack and Mary Kaye raised seven children: Mary Jo, Jack (Lisa), Karen, Joe (Jan), Tim (Beth),
David, (Chris), and Bill (Kay). He has been a loving "Pappap" to his grandchildren Sarah, Shane
(Sara), Max, (Christine) Jarred (Jackie), Michael (Caitlin), Kelly, Katie, Jeff, (Kaitlin) Emily, Patrick, Bobby, Andrea, Griffin, and Maggie, as well as great-grandchildren Jack, Henry, Luciana, Dillon, Enzo, Charlotte, Winona, Vivian, Elisa, Molly, and Jackson. They enjoyed fun stories and a few lectures over the years. We also remember important family friend and companion, Gladys Ourant.
A private family ceremony was held with interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Lewis Center
Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Mid Ohio Food Collective (https://mofc.org) or St. Vincent de Paul, 1559 Roxbury Road, Columbus, OH 43212.
