Jack Eugene Lantz, Jr., 60, died Friday, July 12, 2013. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, on October 5, 1952, to Jack E. Lantz, Sr. and Shirley Landon Lantz. In 1970, he graduated from Hayes High School. He received an Associate’s degree from Columbus Technical Institute in 1984. Jack began working in Delaware, Ohio, at age fourteen and later worked as a bartender in both Delaware and Columbus. He was employed in the wholesale building materials industry from 1978 until 1996 and then worked as a service consultant for Office Depot until his death. Jack was an avid bicyclist, a lover of sports cars, cooking, film noir, and the blues. He planted many trees on his property and fed the birds and squirrels religiously throughout the winter. He is survived by Elizabeth “Libby” Thomas Lantz, his wife of 35 years; children, George (Meagan) Lantz of Columbus, Peter Lantz of Brooklyn, NY, and Rachel Lantz of Columbus; grandsons, Samuel, Jack, and Miles Lantz. He is also survived by a son, Justin Magiera, a granddaughter, Gaia Magiera; sisters, Cynthia Sturni of Columbus, Tamara Lantz of Defiance, and Judith Anderson of Columbus. A memorial gathering will be held at Clintonville Woman’s Club, 3951 North High Street, from 12-4 pm on Tuesday, July 16, 2013.
