Iris Stephanie Bates (Weaver), age 62 of Columbus, passed on, Friday, January 27, 2012 at OSU Hospital. At the time of her passing she was surrounded by family and friends. Iris was a trouble shooter for AT & T and a phlebotomist for Ohio Health. She was a true “Trekkie”, she loved sci-fi movies and was a voracious reader. Iris was a 1967 graduate of South High School and earned her degree from DeVry University. She is preceded in death by her mother Coletta Bates, survived by father Howard L. Bates, Jr. sons: Shurhon Weaver, Rashid (Anya) Weaver and Amin Weaver, daughters: Roxanne Bates and Antoinette Bates-Brown, special son-in-law Marc Brown, grandchildren: Chanel, Devan, Camry, Sari, Christopher, Shannon and Ramir, brothers: Gregory (Janet) Bates and Howard Bates III, sisters Sharon Dawson and Karen (Anthony) Hurt, special sister-in-law Myong Bates and a host of nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1pm Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 East Johnstown Road (at Beecher Road) Gahanna, where the family will receive friends from 12 noon until service.
