Holly Nan Kuehn

Holly Bitner Kuehn, 80, of Columbus, Ohio, died December 7, 2016 from a brief, sudden illness. Holly was born on February 24, 1936 in Streator, Illinois to the late Parker and Ruth Lenoir (Hale) Bitner. Residing in Upper Arlington for 27 years, she was formerly of Medina and Toledo, Ohio. Holly attended DeVillbiss High School in Toledo, graduated from The Ohio State University and married Dr. Edward Kuehn in 1956. A life-long and ardent Buckeye, she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority and relished every victory against the team up north. An intensive knowledge seeker, her passion for travel, the arts, music, food and culture was only superseded by the love and care she bestowed on all those around her. She was beloved by her husband, sister, three children and family, as well as myriad friends made fast throughout her long, fulfilling and active life. Her loving and kind care for others made her a second mother to many. She was a hunter, a fisher, a sailor, gourmet and expert crafts artist. After her husband's untimely death in 1988, she started her professional life, serving on Governor George Voinovich's staff administering the official affairs of the first lady of Ohio during his two-term administration from 1991-1998. Her service to the people of Ohio continued as an administrator and event planner for the Ohio Historical Preservation Society. Retiring in 2005 she remained active in the community, maintaining her matriarchy while loving and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her three children, Katheryn of Columbus, Ohio, Steven of Northbrook, Illinois and Andrew of Medina, Ohio, as well beloved nephew Wellington (Rocky) Roemer of Toledo, Ohio. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends 3-6 PM on Friday December 16, 2016 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. Visitation is 3 pm to 6 pm with Rev. Lilly Jean Haddad officiating memorial services from 6 pm to 7 pm.
